A group calling itself Coalition of Unpaid Nurses has served notice to sue government over their unpaid salaries.
The nurses claim they have not received their salaries for the past fifteen months.
The group made up of over one thousand
registered nurses says the situation has brought untold hardship on them
 and their families.
Speaking in an interview with Citi news,
the National Coordinator for the group, Jefferson Asare Danquah
indicated that they will also demand interest accrued on the unpaid
salaries when the suit is finally filed.
He lamented that; “government have
deliberately not paid our salaries for all these months of work and the
little that he has paid only three months out of the 18 months. We’ve
made follow ups …and all of them to no avail.”
He added that all efforts to get the monies paid them have proved futile.
“What we are doing is we have contacted a
law firm, we are understudying our case, we are providing them with
evidences,” he said.
Some months ago the Ghana Nurses and Midwives Trainees Association demonstrated against the government to protest the non-payment of their allowances.
