Marijuana Overdose Kills 3 Church of Pentecost Pastors
The most HIGH apparently means something else in the Church of Pentecost. According to a Daily Guide report, 3 Church of Pentecost pastors were on Wednesday 8 October, 2014 killed as they indulged in their usual routine before all night prayers.
The report alleged that the three pastors, smoked marijuana on a daily basis as part of their spiritual practices , and encouraged members of their church as well as friends and family to follow their footsteps. In 2012, police records shows that one of the pastors was arrested for possession of marijuana and released on bail following pleas from the Church of Pentecost, but surprisingly he was kept on to continue his duty as the spiritual father of the local branch in Tema.
Police are currently investigating the issue as they believe the marijuana smoked by the pastors and some of their congregation may have been contaminated with a ‘foreign’ substance.
Several church members are currently fighting for their lives at the Tema Metropolitan hospital emergency rooms with life threatening conditions after smoking the ‘holy ntampi’ before Wednesday night prayers.
“It’s a complete mess here. We’ve put five church members in body bags since Wednesday night , our fear is that more are going to follow. We are seeing heart attacks, memory loss, and multiple organ failures.
By next week we are afraid the death toll could go as high as 25, maybe 30. Someone needs to step in and stop this craziness. Is that what goes on at the Church of Pentecost?” says Dr. Yaw Oti, hospital administrator at Tema Metropolitan hospital.
One of the victims was 23 year old Theophilus Twumasi, a third year student at Legon. Twumasi was partying with his friends on campus when he suffered a massive heart attack which led to his untimely death.
The coroners report revealed that marijuana was the only drug present in his system.
“This is just unbelievable. Theo went to see the pastors for prayers on Sunday, I did not know they gave him drugs instead of praying with him,” says his friend John.
