Sparrow productions have revealed that they have casted the controversial musician
Wanlov to play
Jesus
in the first ever Bible-based movie to be produced in Ghana. The movie,
simply titled “Jesus – The Son of Man” is based on the Biblical
depiction of the life of Jesus Christ.
“This is my first big role in a movie, Coz Of Moni was just comedies,” said Wanlov in a recent radio interview
with the Accra based PeaceFM. “I really feel like i can relate to Jesus
because he spread good will messages and went through public scrutiny
every where he went. I feel the same way, you know with my music,
fashion taste, i feel like i was put on this earth to share my message
with Ghanaians through my art. So that’s why when Shirley Frimpong-Manso
proposed the idea to me, i felt like i had to just take it. I’m really
excited about this project, and can not wait for the world to see me in
action.”
Wanlov is known for his controversial behavior, creative music
selections, and showing his manhood on live TV. Wanlov and his partner
in crime M3nsa known together as
FOKN Bois are slated to produced the soundtrack for the film. Speaking on her upcoming project, director Shirley Frimpong-Manso said
“…we did our homework very well, and we believe Wanlov
can bring the energy needed to play such a powerful person in history.
Aside his lead acting role, we are also excited about his musical
contributions to the film. This is the first time a Bible movie will
feature a hip life soundtrack, so we are literally making history with
this project. We believe this is a great way to reach the Ghanaian youth
with the message from the Bible”.
Wanlov’s half sister, Sister Deborah aka Uncle Obama is also slated
to appear in the movie, but her role is unknown at the time of
publication.
