I Am Better Than Guru…Says AJ Nelson

Rapper AJ Nelson says he is better than hiplife musician Guru, in an ensuing rivalry among musicians from the Brong-Ahafo (BA) Region of Ghana over who is the best.
Both Guru and AJ, including others such as Brenya, Jay Smalls and others, are all from the BA but have been plying their trade in Accra.
AJ told NEWS-ONE last weekend that he was the best among the rest, saying, “I am the King of BA.”
He is the best in terms of rap, lyrics and who is painting the picture of his region proudly and genuinely wherever he goes.
“I started off as the BA Emcee, and graduated from there to become the King of BA. Being the first rapper to rap in my native dialect, which is Brong. Yes, I am the best from my region in terms of rap, lyrics-wise and who is painting the picture of his region proudly and genuinely wherever he goes,” he said on Friday.
“You know when we look at the hip-hop artistes in America, first they focus on their state—I mean where they’re from—before they think about going nationwide and global. No one is shy or ashamed of telling the world where they’re from. If you do that you become fake and lost as an artiste. I am glad since I started going all out in my music and my interviews telling people about my region, now some of them have begun telling people they’re from Brong-Ahafo,” he explained.
According to him, Guru is no exception.
“I thought Guru was shy in the beginning but since I started wearing the crown as the official King of BA, he is now opening up. I know now he is saying in his head, ‘damn, it could have been me…’ Hahahaha. Guru represents just a district and I represent the whole region,” he added.
AJ is currently preparing to release his new single titled, Mama Africa, featuring Nelson Manora, Congolese International, on November 29. He will be releasing his new video for his song, Me Re Ngyae Mu, featuring Kesse, the same week.
