Before the Easter break, the Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo) announced that it was buying power from Ivory Coast to ease the power crisis during the Easter festivities.
Many questioned why the government will take such an unsustainable initiative.
However, a source at the Volta River Authority (VRA) explained to Citi News that during the holidays, industries do not work, therefore, there is enough power available to be supplied to homes.
The source also denied that bought power from neighbouring Ivory Coast.
The source explained that Ghana has an inter-connection agreement with Ivory Coast. This agreement stipulates that if Ghana has excess power, it supplies Ivory Coast and vice versa.
